What does your business do?

Provide vocals for weddings

When and why did you start the biz?

I started singing in weddings in June of 1981 when a memeber of my church asked me to sing in her wedding.  

What's the toughest part of running your biz?

Sometimes the toughest part is staying healthy and keeping my voice from getting hoarse. And equipment malfunctions.

What's the most fun part? 

The fun part is traveling to different places, meeting the different couples, their families, and the different types of weddings and their locations.

What's next on the horizon for your biz?

To be able to keep it going on a consistent basis. To at least perform in a wedding every weekend.

What advice do you have for others?

I believe God has blessed us all with something unique that only we can do. That something that defines us and makes us who we are, our peace, our "thing", the one thing we love. Most people have found what that is and they use it to their advantage. Some get paid, some just do it for the love of it. Find out what your talent is, there's 24 hrs in a day, there's nothing that says that you can't do what you love in your spare time. And if you can generate a little extra revenue doing what you love.....that's gravy!

Prior jobs or business or education?

I started singing in church at age 5, chorus in elementary school, in Choir in High School and College. I've won a few talent shows in high school and college and was lead singer and keyboardist in a gospel music singing group. I also received a music scholarship from my high school choir music teacher.

Is there any one person or event in your life that led you to go into business for yourself?

A fellow church member was getting married and asked me to sing in her wedding.
