What does your business do?

I am a consultant for those seeking various book publishing methods and inovative ideas for marketing. Plain & Simple Books publishes 9 Websites. I self-publish my own titles as well

When and why did you start the biz?

I began Plain & Simple Books in 2002 to publish my own book. After gaining unprovoked feedback from other authors about my publishing experiece, I began assisting them with theirs.

What's the toughest part of running your biz?

Researching the links within the industry and making contacts with book buyers, printers, and editers. It's touch to stay "unblocked."

What's the most fun part? 

Seeing authors fullfill their dream of getting published is heartwarming because I recall the day my first book was delivered to my door, wow, what an incredible rush!

What's next on the horizon for your biz?

E-books!!! They're in and easy! E-books will within 5 years replace 80% of all printed books. I have 3 in the works as I write this.
 

What advice do you have for others?

Nearly 80% of all people dream of writing and publishing a book but very few pick up the pen and write!
Can you imagine your name on the cover of a book? How about searching your name on the World Wide Web and seeing 500 links appear? An Amazon sales ranking of 2,900 wouldn’t be all too bad either!
So what are you waiting for?
It's in us all and expressing it is healthy. Whether you never see a finished book, you should write what you feel and get it out!
It may seem like an unacheivable dream at first, but it is reachable and VERY worthwhile.
Writing is addicting--once you begin, you can't stop. Pick up the pen and start the journey to becomming a published author NOW!.

Prior jobs or business or education?

I was self-employed as the owner/operator of a 13 acre public equestrian center in Chino, California for 15 years.

Is there any one person or event in your life that led you to go into business for yourself?

The business I was in really inspired me to want to write about my experiences. In all fairness, my hubby was pretty inspirational as well!!!
