The Making It! Institute is a 501c-3 not-for-profit corporation dedicated to advancing the business of small business and to those determined entrepreneurs whose success can keep families, neighborhoods, communities, and entire regions alive with jobs and positive economic activity.

Fueled by 20 years of experience producing America’s most-lauded small business TV program – “Making It!” – The Institute was founded by television producer and entrepreneur, Nelson Davis, as a natural outgrowth of his passionate belief in the entrepreneurial spirit:

“In response to our country’s broad economic challenges, we strongly believe that helping resourceful people who seek opportunity and self- reliance is of paramount importance for America. Entrepreneurial thinking and activities are the key to job development and a hopeful future. The outcome we seek is an increase in neighborhood-based businesses in underdeveloped areas, furthering the employment of a diverse resident population.”

With the support of a select group of partners, The Institute is dedicated to improving communities through programs and events that deliver entrepreneurial guidance, training, education and inspiration, with an emphasis on women, minorities, and under-served communities.
